The Roof has evolved throughout the design process, from a completely flat roof, to a sloped Terracotta roof, and eventually reaching the final design.
The Final Design is composed of Glass skylights that run through the center of the mosque roof, meeting at the glass 8 point star skylight. The parapet at the lobby has been raised higher than the rest of the mosque walls and wraps around the roof level, boxing in the 8 pointed star skylight. Sloped terracotta tile roofs run along the perimeter just inside the parapet to show a relation to Spanish revival style architecture from the region. Skylights have also been added along the sides of the building perimeter walls just on the backside of the terracotta roof perimeter. These skylights allow for light to flood down the walls of the mosque.
